[ Wow, a loaded question right off the bat. But somehow, he tone doesn't make it feel loaded. Still, he responds with a slight bit of sarcasm ]

[Because, sarcasm. Though in Anya's case it's taken literally to a degree as she looks at him. Considers touching his face. Ultimately looking back at her own drink.]

So, uh. Just returned or been here a while?

[Seems to be the topic that's all the rage lately. Not that she's especially fond of small talk, and she's not even sure how much she cares? But it's words, and maybe it'll help her out too. The sorting.]

I've never gone home since the day I showed up here. [ He says this with a smile, though. He's not sure if he's saying that with irony or what - his mood is all over the place on that topic. But right now, a step closer to their success, it doesn't feel that bad to still be here. At least he's pretty sure he knows what's going on ]

[ rapunzel scrunches up her nose in indignation. ]

Of course! I can listen to anything if it means hearing out a friend.

"Of course you can," she answered in that flat tone of voice that came across her tongue so easily. So naturally. It disguised all the weirdness that Buffy was feeling. All the really gross twisting uncertainty that made her more apt to run away -- look for the treehouse, or the Joanna Joyce, or anywhere other than Seven. But now! Ah. Well. The invitation'd been given.

Buffy backed up. She retraced her steps to the porch. "Mi casa, su casa, whatever casa. You...you know that."

But it was all boast and bluff. Both of them knew it was not so easy.

Well that sucks for you, doesn't it?

[More irony. Or just... well, she still doesn't know how to feel about the Luceti business. Sure most people wanted to go right back home, others didn't really have much of one. And who could decide what was better? To go back to dust, or to find out if they really could go live in that magical world without shrimp.]

Is that so? I imagine you want something resembling an explanation, then. Or perhaps it would be more entertaining to leave you in suspense.

If I don't get the explanation from you, buster, I'll hear it from someone else.

[Maybe someone's just a little cantankerous.] But you're here and it's convenient. Tell me now.

What does all the confused people being here have to do with how you feel about going back? If there is a back for you.

[She always has a little trouble going from point a to b with him. It was a lot easier when they weren't talking. At least, that's the feeling she gets, vague at first. He liked to talk a lot, didn't he?]

Oh, no, no. [ And he waves a hand here, making sure he's looking her in the eye as he explains, with hand motions: ] Right now, things have just changed here amazingly. There's a lot of people coming here now, being confused and such. But I actually know what's up, and it's closer to a bit of a goal we have -- sooo, being here doesn't seem as bad, when I'm the one on top.

[She needs something. Something to pop into her mouth. She notices and then casually grabs a handful of peanuts, chewing as she listens before responding.]

Dead positive. [ And he smirks a little here, brushing a hand on the counter ] I don't have much to quantify it, but we did travel back in time, after all.

[He chuckles at her indecision, and reigns in his rappig to get ready to follow him at a moments notice.

Allow him to make the decision... or suggest where first in her stead?]

If you want my advice, it would probably be better to go by the clothes shop so you can pick out something more appropriate for the weather first and then get you more warmed up with a drink.

[She's mostly indecisive due to the sheer dizziness of coming back. Everything feels sensitive.

And the cold isn't helping that.]

Right, you're -- you're right. Clothes are good. [She even gives him a decisive nod to his suggestion -- and that's when the corner of her eye picks up two rather suspicious ears attached to --]

Maybe superficially. But I've talked with some people who remember this version of the world, and none of them even know who the "Malnosso" are, let alone the Third Party.
