Yeah, I've heard some of the story. [She flutters a free hand.] Isn't a whole lot still the same anyway?

Maybe superficially. But I've talked with some people who remember this version of the world, and none of them even know who the "Malnosso" are, let alone the Third Party.

And yet we're still in a bubble named "Luceti".

Yeah, but I got to walk out of the bubble with my own feet not all that long ago.

Okay, why don't you go ahead and explain that one then.

[She leans back, folding her arms with a raised eyebrow.]

When we went back to the past, we didn't come with all the stuff to come back. So, in order to see the world and collect the stuff needed to return, we got to go on outside that barrier. I rode out on an ATV.

You went outside the barrier through a television set? [She really is trying to follow along, but there are just some things she's not familiar with.]

A-T-V. I'm... not actually sure what it stands for, but you know what a car is, Anya-san? It's a small version of that.

So... a mini car. [She nods, trying to run with that mental image.] And nothing shifty happened to you out there?

Oh no, plenty of things did. Nothing that turned me into a pineapple or anything, but I ran into some strange people strange monsters, got caught in a gravity well and even turned pink at the end there for a bit... but I didn't explode or anything.

I'm glad you didn't explode. [Though she takes his other commentary to mean that those things did happen to other people.] So now what?

So now, assuming it succeeded, that war doesn't exist.

So... if the war doesn't exist, why are we still here again?

Because the war's apart from them knowing how to send us all back... or well, send us back and make sure we don't come back.

[That wasn't exactly the point she was going for, but it doesn't seem worth it to argue it. Instead she shrugs, taking another sip of her drink. World without shrimp, world without war. Same difference, huh? It was still fishy, but ... whatever. She was here "again" and maybe that was what mattered.]

If you say so, buddy. [But she takes a look at him, thinking.] Weren't we dating?

[ Ah, so she remembered... ] Not seriously, though.

[ She's not under an obligation or anything, basically... ] Shifts and all.

... Right. Right. Of course.

[It wasn't her fault that her memories were still coming to her, feelings and impressions in that jumble between being sent back and returning. Hardly any time at all and yet.]

So you weren't holding a torch, or anything.

[ ... Huh. ] And what if I was?

Because being dragged back here reminded me of just how long I've been going without sex since -- that fake marriage to Horner, so I'm keeping my options open.

[ ... Oh.

Oh. Oh, wow, she's direct? He ends up laughing, perhaps a little bit nervously before he relaxes and it becomes more genuine - ]

Then I'll lay it out too: You ended up going back before I really got closure about the whole thing. We were all over each other and then boom, you're gone before we even talk about it when you're normal after.

And is that what you want? Closure?

I never thought that hard about it, so I'm just talking with you now.

[ Man he needs a slightly stronger one, Knuckles on the counter ]

[Make that another for her also. Signals with a finger. Sure are a lot of people in there, and that's no surprise.]

Never thought about it? Did you even miss me?

Of course! Well, I thought about it, at the very least.

[ Miss her...? He'd like to say he did, but he didn't know her that much. He didn't know if he could trust how much he missed her... ]

Sorry. It's still confusing, the whole being shoved from one world into another and having my feelings about everything thrown into a blender.

So, what did you think about it? Besides it being yet another way our strings were pulled by other people.
